Privacy Policy for PriceSense.ai

Last updated: June 24, 2025

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how PriceSense.ai ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our website and mobile application (the "Service"). It also explains your rights regarding your personal data and how we comply with European and U.S. privacy laws (including GDPR). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining transparency in our data practices.

Who We Are

PriceSense.ai is a price tracking and notification service operated by us. When you register for or use PriceSense.ai, the Data Controller (for purposes of GDPR) is PriceSense.ai (located in the Netherlands, operating globally). If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or your data, you can contact us at info@pricesense.ai. (Please include "Privacy Inquiry" in the subject line for faster assistance.)

Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide our service. This includes:

Account Information

When you register, we ask for your name and email address. We use these to create your account and communicate with you (e.g. send price alerts or account-related notifications).

Product Tracking Data

You may submit product URLs or identifiers for items you want to track. We store these URLs to monitor prices and notify you of price changes. (Product URLs generally do not contain personal data, but they are associated with your account so we can deliver your alerts.)

Usage Data

When you use our website or app, we collect certain information automatically via analytics services. This may include your device's IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, pages or screens viewed, actions taken (like buttons clicked), and the dates/times of access. We collect this usage data to understand how our Service is used and to improve performance.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to remember your preferences and track usage statistics. For example, we use analytics cookies to collect information about traffic and user interactions (see "Google Analytics" below). You can set your browser to refuse non-essential cookies; however, some features of our Service (such as staying logged in or proper analytics) may not function correctly without cookies. Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before using certain cookies (e.g. analytics cookies).

Subscription and Purchase Data

If our app offers premium features or subscriptions, purchases are handled through third-party services (such as app store payment systems). We use RevenueCat for managing in-app subscriptions. We may send a user ID (a random identifier) to RevenueCat to validate your subscription status, but we do not share your name, email, or other contact details with them. RevenueCat does not receive information that can identify you personally from us, only technical data needed to ensure your purchase is recognized on your account.

We do not collect any sensitive personal information such as payment card details (those are handled directly by payment processors), nor do we intentionally collect any data about your race, religion, health, or other special categories of data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

To Provide the Service

We use your name and email to register your account and to send you price change notifications for the products you are tracking. This is the core functionality of PriceSense.ai – without this information, we cannot deliver the alerts you request.

Account Management

To allow you to log in, manage your watchlist of products, and receive customer support. For example, we may use your email to respond to support inquiries or to send critical account updates (such as password resets or changes to our service).

Analytics and Improvements

We analyze usage data (via third-party analytics tools) to understand user behavior and preferences. This helps us improve our website/app design, fix technical issues, and optimize our features. We ensure that analytics data is mostly aggregated or pseudonymous (for instance, we look at overall usage patterns, not at individual user behavior, except as needed to troubleshoot issues).

Subscriptions and Purchases

If you opt for a premium subscription, we use data (like your user ID or transaction IDs) to verify and manage your subscription via our partner (RevenueCat) and the app store. This allows us to unlock premium features for your account and maintain your subscription status.

Communication

To send you important communications. Primarily, these will be the price drop notifications you signed up for. We may also send service-related announcements when necessary (for example, updates to this Privacy Policy, security alerts, or changes in our services). We will not send you marketing or promotional emails unrelated to the price tracking service unless you separately opt-in to such communications.

Legal Compliance and Protection

If necessary, we may use or disclose information to comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms of service, resolve disputes, or protect our rights or the safety of our users. For example, we could use data to investigate and prevent fraudulent activities or abuse of our Service.

We do not use your personal data for any form of automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal Basis for Processing (EU Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, we process your personal data only when we have a valid legal basis under the GDPR:

Performance of a Contract

Most of our data processing is to provide you with the service you requested. When you sign up and use PriceSense.ai, we process your name, email, product tracking requests, and related data to fulfill our contract with you by delivering the price alert service.

Legitimate Interests

We process certain data to pursue our legitimate business interests, in a manner that does not override your privacy rights. For example, it is our legitimate interest to collect usage analytics (in a privacy-friendly way) to improve our product and ensure security. We rely on legitimate interests for using Google Analytics and similar tools to analyze performance unless applicable law requires us to obtain consent first (see Cookies section). We believe our use of analytics is low-risk and beneficial to users (as it helps improve the service), and we implement safeguards like IP anonymization where possible. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (see Your Rights below).

Consent

In cases where we do want to use cookies or tracking that are not strictly necessary, or send you optional communications, we will seek your consent. For instance, if required by law (e.g., some jurisdictions require opt-in for analytics cookies), we will show you a cookie consent banner. You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time, and we will stop the data processing that was based on that consent.

Legal Obligation

If we are subject to any legal obligations that require processing or retention of data (for example, retaining transaction records for tax or accounting purposes, or disclosing data if lawfully required by government authorities), we will process personal data as needed to comply with those laws.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

As mentioned, we use cookies and similar technologies on our website for functionality and analytics. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device that helps our site or app remember your preferences and recognize you on subsequent visits. For example, cookies allow you to stay logged in during your session and let us gather aggregate analytics about site usage.

Types of cookies we use:

  • Essential Cookies: These are necessary for our website or app to function (for example, to authenticate users and prevent fraudulent use of accounts). Without these cookies, some parts of the Service would not work properly. Because they are necessary, we use them by default when you use the Service.
  • Analytics Cookies: These cookies collect information about how visitors use our website, such as which pages are visited and any errors encountered. We use this information to improve the user experience and fix issues. Our analytics cookies may be provided by third-party analytics providers (see Google Analytics below). These cookies do not directly identify you (we do not see your name or email in analytics reports), but they may log information like your IP address, device type, and browser version. In the EEA/UK, we will obtain consent for analytics cookies unless they are fully anonymized or otherwise exempt. You can always opt-out of analytics as described below.
  • Functional Cookies: We may use cookies to remember choices you make, such as your preferred language or other settings, to provide a more personalized experience. These improve your experience but are not strictly required. You can disable them, but you may have to re-enter preferences on each visit.

You have control over cookies. Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies via settings. You can also use browser extensions to block trackers. Note that if you disable cookies entirely, our website (especially login sessions and analytics) may not function optimally.

Third-Party Service Providers

We utilize certain trusted third-party services to operate and enhance PriceSense.ai. These providers act on our behalf to process data for specific purposes, as described below. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and any third-party involvement is solely to support our Service delivery. In all cases, we share the minimum information necessary and ensure these providers are bound to protect your data.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how users use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect usage data (such as your IP address and pages visited) and compiles reports for us on aggregate website activity. Google may also use data collected from our site for its own purposes, such as improving Google Analytics or, if you allow advertising cookies, for personalizing ads within its network. Importantly, Google Analytics does not identify you by name or email; it provides generalized statistics. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses in regions where required, which means the last digits of your IP are masked before storage, to further protect your privacy. You can opt-out of Google Analytics tracking entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which prevents your browser from sending data to Google Analytics.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat, Inc. is a service that helps manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. We use RevenueCat in our mobile app to handle subscription verification and status management. When you subscribe to a premium plan through the app, our app communicates with RevenueCat to confirm the purchase and unlock features. For this purpose, we share a non-personal identifier (such as an internal user ID or device ID) and purchase tokens/receipts with RevenueCat. We do not send your name, email, or contact info to RevenueCat, and they cannot contact you or identify you from the data we provide. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf, meaning they only use the data to fulfill the subscription service for us and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.

OpenAI API

We use OpenAI's API in our backend for product data analysis (for example, to help interpret or fetch pricing information from product pages). No personal user data (such as your name, email, or tracked product list) is ever sent to OpenAI. The OpenAI service only receives non-personal data (like product page content) to assist our price tracking functionality. We mention this service in the interest of full transparency, but again, it does not process any of your personal information.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We treat your personal data with care and confidentiality. We do not share or disclose your information except in the limited scenarios described here:

  • Service Providers: As explained above, we share data with third-party service providers who need it to perform tasks on our behalf (e.g., analytics, subscription management). They are contractually obligated to keep your data secure and use it only for providing their services to us. We do not permit them to use your data for their own marketing or other purposes.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order, subpoena, or government demand). We will only share what is legally necessary.
  • Protection of Rights: If we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, or to investigate/prevent fraud or security issues, we may disclose data as appropriate. For example, we might share information with law enforcement to investigate a misuse of our service or to handle a fraud case.
  • Business Transfers: If PriceSense.ai is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or reorganization, user data may be transferred to another entity as part of that transaction. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the successor adheres to the commitments we've made in this Privacy Policy.
  • With Your Consent: In any other situation not covered above where we might need to share your data, we will only do so if you have given explicit consent.

Crucially, we do not sell your personal information to third parties. We also do not share your personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the European Union (the Netherlands), but we use some third-party services located in the United States and other countries. This means your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your own, including the United States. When we transfer personal data out of the EU/EEA, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information equivalent to the protection under EU law.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law. Here are the general retention practices for different types of data:

  • Account Information: We keep your account data (name, email, password hash, and associated tracked products) for as long as you maintain an account with us.
  • Tracked Product Data: The URLs or product identifiers you add will be retained until you remove them from your watchlist or delete your account.
  • Communications: If you contact us (e.g., via support email), we may retain those communications for a period of time to ensure we have a history of your support requests.
  • Analytics Data: Google Analytics data is retained according to the settings we have configured with Google.
  • Subscription/Purchase Records: If you have a subscription, we may retain records of your subscription status and transactions as long as needed for account management and financial record-keeping.
  • Legal Requirements: We might need to retain certain information for longer if required by applicable laws.

Data Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement commercially reasonable measures to protect it. These measures include technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of your data. For example, our website uses HTTPS encryption to secure data in transit. Passwords are stored in hashed form (never in plain text) in our database. We restrict access to personal data to only those personnel and service providers who need it to operate the service, and they are subject to confidentiality obligations.

Despite our efforts, please understand that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information. However, we continuously update our security practices in line with industry standards.

You have certain rights regarding your personal data, which may vary depending on your location. PriceSense.ai is designed to comply with users' data rights as required by GDPR in the EU and relevant U.S. laws like CCPA for California residents.

Rights for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a resident of California, USA, you are protected by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Under California law, you have the following rights:

How to Exercise Your Rights

Include your name, the email associated with your account (if different from the sending address), and which right you wish to exercise. Describe your request with sufficient detail for us to understand and respond.

Do Not Track Signals

"Do Not Track" (DNT) is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked across different sites. However, there is currently no widely accepted standard or regulation on how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, our website does not respond to Do Not Track signals in any special way, because no uniform standard for compliance has been established.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use PriceSense.ai or provide any personal data (such as your name or email). In the event we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information from our records as soon as possible.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice — for example, by emailing you (if we have your email on file) or by placing a notice on our website or in the app.
